IAC Group North America will close its Greencastle, Ind., facility in 2022, permanently laying off 125 employees.
"We have notified employees of layoffs that will begin in December in an effort to provide as much advanced notice as possible," IAC said in an emailed statement to Plastics News.
"Unforeseen business circumstances" resulted in the layoffs beginning earlier than expected, "on or about" Dec. 10 and Dec. 31, according to an Oct. 3 notice to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development
Some of the employees may have bumping rights, the notice said. The bargaining unit employees are represented by UAW Local 2382.
"IAC Group will continue to work closely with the local union and affected employees to support them and their families through this process," the statement said.
The company laid off 93 employees from the same plant on July 23, "due to unforeseen circumstances" in its customer demand and release schedules.
"We find it necessary to react to our customer's plans by pulling our WARN [Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification] ahead and announcing layoffs, which will now occur in the month of July," IAC said at the time.
