In a deal that combines two companies that track resin pricing, ICIS has acquired Chemical Data LLC. Terms were not disclosed.
In addition to plastics, both companies track petrochemicals and provide research reports and analytical information. ICIS is a division of London-owned RELX plc, a publicly traded company formerly named Reed Elsevier.
Houston-based CDI was founded in 1979. In a July 13 news release, ICIS said the combined company will deliver global price benchmark data, market analysis and forecasts.
Dean Curtis, president and CEO of ICIS, said in a news release: "CDI is widely recognized as a leader in the U.S. petrochemical segment. By joining CDI's expertise with ICIS' leading presence in Europe and Asia, we can provide customers with an extensive, robust and comprehensive view of key global petrochemical markets."
CDI President Jason Brown called the companies "a perfect fit."
"Combining our deep expertise in our respective regions will bring significant benefits to our customers around the world as well as the broader industry," Brown said.
