Rochester, N.Y.-based Century Mold Co. Inc. is investing $17 million to expand and purchase new equipment for its Monroe, Ohio facility.
Originally announced in July, the company expects the 50,000-square-foot expansion will create 70 new full-time positions in the area, a Nov. 9 news release said.
Construction workers broke ground on Nov. 9 for the expansion that will double the size of the existing plant and is expected to be operational in the second quarter of 2022.
"The favorable business environment in the state, the availability of talented people and our 15-year history in this community were all key factors in our decision to further invest in Ohio," Ron Ricotta, president and CEO of Century Mold said in the release. "We are looking forward to growing our business and employment in Monroe."
Century Mold was No. 62 in Plastics News' most recent survey of North American injection molders with an estimated $145 million in sales. In addition to New York and Ohio, the company has manufacturing at two sites in Tennessee and two in Mexico.
