Film and sheet giant Inteplast Group has acquired a paper packaging maker that will operate under Inteplast's Integrated Bagging Sytems (IBS) Division.
The acquired company, Brown Paper Goods of Waukegan, Ill., has been renamed Brown Paper Products. It manufactures single-use bags, liners, wraps and self-opening style bags for grocery stores, quick-service restaurants and other food service customers.
The company, founded in 1918, has four facilities comprising plants and warehouses.
Inteplast Group's markets include building products, health care, industrial, food service, retail and sanitation.
Inteplast employs more than 8,000 people and operates more than 55 facilities.
Plastics News ranks Inteplast as the largest film and sheet manufacturer in North America, with 2023 estimated sales of $3.45 billion, down from $3.68 billion in 2022.
Inteplast and its myriad units supply markets including packaging, building products, grocery, retail, sanitation, industrial, and graphic arts. Based in Livingston, N.J.,
In other Inteplast news, its XF Films unit's Barrier-Bac anti-vapor film, used for years in commercial construction, is making its debut in residential construction. The film was chosen for a gated residential development in Florence, S.C., an area with flat terrain that puts it at risk for flooding and hurricanes.
"The success of this project has opened the door for us to the residential building market," Frank Chen, XF Films' general manager, said in a recent news release.
The project is expected to be complete by April.
