International Plastics Inc. is the only company in this year's Best Places to Work list that has more women on staff than men. The Greenville, S.C.-based manufacturer and supplier of stock and custom flexible packaging said it has a diverse workforce — and it embraces and promotes that.
"Our primary mission is 'to help businesses succeed by providing complete packaging solutions.' Female salespeople seem to nurture those relationships better and connect deeper with our customers," said Mark McClure, chief operating officer. "Customers love the 'customer care' we can provide, and much of that is due to the work ethic and the passion our female associates bring to our culture."
The company has a high tenure, and McClure said no employees have been lost due to the Great Resignation.
"We are continuing to grow and add more associates," McClure said. "We are transitioning from a second-generation family business to a legacy, board-driven company with all nonfamily leadership throughout. It is exciting to see leadership positions organically growing from within the company."
Employees are recognized for their hard work and accomplishments every year at the company meeting. Team outings include baseball and hockey games, and staff can wear sports team uniforms on game days. Throughout the year, there are breakfasts, lunches, barbecues and an annual Christmas party.
"[Being a 2022 Best Place to Work] confirms the hard work we have put in to build a culture that anchors us to our mission, vision and values. It drives all we do throughout our strategic plan," McClure said. "It is great to know the impact it is having on happy associates that not only enjoy working here but truly buy into our greater purpose."
