Louisville, Ky.-based Isco Industries Inc. will expand its headquarters site with a $12.75 million investment for a new operation that will create 50 full-time jobs.
Founded in 1962, Isco manufactures and distributes high density polyethylene piping products and structures, such as manholes, tanks, fittings and geothermal vaults, and also sells, services and rents McElroy fusion equipment.
The latest expansion project, which will begin in June, will enhance fabrication capabilities and support continued growth when it is completed in June 2026, according to a news release.
"Isco is proud to make an investment in innovation here in Kentucky," President Mark Kirchdorfer said. "As we prepare for future growth, we will continually invest back into the business."
Founded by Jim Kirchdorfer, Sr., Isco started out serving the underground golf course irrigation market and then expanded into markets for gas distribution, mining, power generation, municipal, marine, oil and gas, culvert rehabilitation and more.
The family-owned business, which is now led by the founder's sons, has grown to include more than 30 facilities across the United States and Canada.
In 2007, the company relocated its fabrication facility to Louisville, where it employs about 75 people.
For the expansion, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) gave preliminary approval to a 10-year performance-based incentive agreement to provide up to $450,000 in tax incentives if Isco meets targets to create and maintain 50 full-time jobs across 10 years that pay an average hourly wage of $27.25, including benefits.
Also, KEDFA approved up to $150,000 in tax incentives for Isco through the Kentucky Enterprise Initiative Act, which allows companies to recoup Kentucky sales taxes on construction costs, building fixtures and equipment used for research and development and electronic processing.
Last year, Isco expanded in Wisconsin by acquiring substantially all of the assets of Mayville-based Infinity Plastics LLC, a manufacturer of HDPE piping products, to strengthen its operational and logistics capacity.
