Italian packaging maker Serioplast US LLC is expanding its global footprint with a new facility in Red Springs, N.C.
The injection and blow molder will invest $9.42 million and create 46 jobs in its new location.
The Red Springs location is the second North American plant. The other, located in St. Louis, opened in 2018.
Serioplast, with a global headquarters in Seriate, Italy, manufactures rigid plastic packaging such as bottles in the households, personal care, food and beverage, and medical markets. Some high profile clients include Colgate-Palmolive, Procter & Gamble, Bausch + Lomb, Unilever and L'Oreal.
The 46 new employees will come with salaries averaging about $45,000 per year.
Serioplast chose the Red Springs location because of a fitting facility, access to strong workforce and it was convenient for growing North American consumer markets, CEO Carlo Innocenti said in a news release.
The company will get a $150,000 grant once it reaches job creation and capital targets.
Serioplast US is the North American unit of Serioplast SpA, which was founded in 1974 and boasts more than 1,600 workers across 30 facilities.
In addition to molding, Serioplast makes its own extrusion blow molding machines and auxiliary equipment. On its website, it says its fourth generation Seriomac is an all-electric machine with production stability, quality and low-energy consumption.
