Italian rigid plastic packaging maker Serioplast SpA is investing $25.7 million in a new plant in Virginia to expand its North American presence, according to a news release from state officials.
The company, which has its global headquarters in Seriate, Italy, will occupy an existing 140,000 square foot industrial facility in Shenandoah County in northwest Virginia.
The investment by the injection molding and blow molding company will create 45 jobs, according to a Feb. 7 announcement from Gov. Glenn Youngkin.
Serioplast makes rigid packaging for a range of markets, including home care, personal care and food and beverage. Customers include global consumer brands like Procter & Gamble, Unilever plc and Reckitt Benckiser Group plc.
"Our vision for the future is clear: to drive growth and innovation while maintaining a strong commitment to sustainability," said CEO Paolo Bergamini, in the announcement from state.
The announcement did not include production details but said the state would provide a $180,000 grant from its Opportunity Fund.
It's the company's third facility in the United States. It opened a plant in Red Springs, N.C., in 2020, after opening its headquarters for its Serioplast US LLC unit in St. Louis in 2018.
Worldwide, the company has 33 facilities in 16 countries, with over 2,000 employees. It has annual sales of about 400 million euros ($415 million).
