St. Petersburg, Fla.-based Jabil Inc. is permanently laying off 130 employees at its facility in Albuquerque, N.M., which is part of Jabil Packaging Solutions and serves the consumables, health care and orthopedic devices markets.
The layoffs will begin Sept. 13 through October, according to a WARN letter from Jabil to the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions.
The positions affected by the layoffs include manufacturing engineers, technicians and operators, it said. The workers are not represented by a union.
The layoffs are the "result of loss of business for a certain product manufactured at the identified Albuquerque location, resulting in the shutdown of the entire operating unit servicing such business at this location," the notice said.
Representatives for Jabil Inc. did not immediately respond to request for comment by Plastics News.
Jabil's Heathcare unit, formerly Nypro Inc., has 260,000 employees across 100 locations in 30 countries. It provides technical and design capabilities, supply chain and global product management insights.
