Strong growth has led materials distributor and recycler Jamplast Inc. to move to a larger site in Mount Vernon, Ind.
Ellisville, Mo.-based Jamplast currently operates a 64,000-square-foot site in Mount Vernon, but will occupy a 95,000-square-foot location 5 miles away by the middle of July. The new site previously was used for fence and decking production by Westech Builidng Products, which closed operations there in late 2019.
Jamplast already has moved its heavy equipment to the new site and will install five new pieces of equipment, including shredders and granulators, President Michael Bernich said in an interview with Plastics News.
"We had outgrown our previous location," he added. "Moving to a larger site really helps our customers."
Operations at the new location include material dry blending, metal separation, shredding, grinding and custom packaging. The new site also has 200,000 square feet of outdoor space for storage or future expansion. The previous site will close when the new one is fully open.
Jamplast's new plant will employ around 30 when fully operational. Bernich said the firm plans to add around 10 jobs there by the end of the year. Jamplast also employs around nine at a 20,000-square-foot recycling and distribution site in Alliance, Ohio.
Jamplast opened in 1994 and was named one of Plastics News' Best Places to Work in 2020 and 2022.
