Jindal Films Americas LLC is closing a plant in Georgia, a move that affects nearly 100 workers. But the company said an unspecified "small number" of employees will continue to work remotely.
The filmmaker listed 99 positions in a letter to local government officials announcing the closure of its LaGrange, Ga., location.
"The first employee separations as a result of this action will occur during the 14-day period beginning on May 13, 2024," Jindal said in the letter.
The employees are not represented by the union and do not have the right to bump someone else out of their job at a different location.
Jindal Films Americas has two locations and estimated annual sales of $560 million, according to a Plastics News ranking of the largest film and sheet makers in North America. The company is a unit of Jindal Poly Films Ltd. of India. Jindal Films Americas makes both PET and polypropylene products.
The company's other U.S. manufacturing site is in Shawnee, Okla., according to Jindal's website, which lists the LaGrange location as a regional headquarters. LaGrange also is home to a technical center for the company, the website said.
