Purging compound maker Neutrex Inc. will be under family management with John Haag as president and CEO.
John Haag has served as general counsel and as a primary adviser to Houston-based Neutrex since its founding in 1992. He's the son of Neutrex founder Arthur Haag, who died in January at age 93. Arthur Haag invented Purgex-brand purging compound, Neutrex's signature product.
In a news release, Neutrex officials said that John Haag has an extensive background in technology, industry, business management and law, as well as experience with chemical, water treatment, nuclear power and manufacturing plants.
John Haag previously was a partner at the international law firm now known as Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, often representing manufacturers in product performance and intellectual property disputes. He also co-founded and managed two other law firms, where he handled a wide range of business matters.
Haag said in the release that his objective is to expand his father's legacy. Arthur Haag's materials career spanned almost 70 years. He founded Neutrex after retiring from Phillips Petroleum. Arthur Haag in 1966 had founded materials firm PureChem Corp., which he sold to Dart Industries before Dart sold the business to Phillips.
"Two of the greatest honors in my life will be to accept my father's posthumous induction into the Plastics Hall of Fame before the opening of the 2024 NPE convention in May, and to lead Neutrex in its continuing mission to provide plastic molders around the world with efficient and effective solutions," he added.
Neutrex is a Haag family-owned enterprise that makes 14 grades of Purgex that are sold in more than 40 countries. John Haag's brother Ken Haag is operations manager at Neutrex, and his sister, Kathleen Jarvis, is vice president of sales.
