Japan-based raw material manufacturer JSP, a specialist in thermoplastic foams, is expanding its range of expanded polypropylene particle foams.
The newest addition to the portfolio is Arpro 35 Ocean, the first EPP product incorporating recycled content derived from marine waste, to "relieve the burden on the oceans," said Vice President of Sales, Frank Tölle.
“This will reduce the amount of plastic waste that pollutes our environment and conserve resources”
Made with 15 percent recycled "maritime industry waste" such as fishing nets and ropes, the foam has a medium bulk density (34 grams per literl) for lightweight molded parts with densities of between 40-70 g/l.
It offers similar physical properties and performance as Arpro made from virgin materials only. According to JSP, its carbon footprint is smaller, with 7 percent less CO2 produced compared to conventional foam.
Only recycled material from end-of-life maritime industrial waste is used, which gives it its unique color.
