Dahlberg named Hexpol president, CEO

Malmo, Sweden — Nearly four months after the death of Georg Brunstam,  Hexpol AB's president and CEO, the world's largest custom compounder has named a successor.

Klas Dahlberg was appointed unanimously as president and CEO by Hexpol's Board of Directors Dec. 19. Dahlberg officially will assume the top executive position in the company no later than July 1.

In particular, the strategic development will be realized through further expansion through acquisitions, organic growth and development of advanced polymer solutions "with an improved, sustainable footprint," Goransson said.

Dahlberg currently serves as head of business area NIBE Climate Solutions, a Norwegian firm that specializes in "intelligent, energy-efficient indoor comfort solutions."

Dahlberg has been with NIBE since 2016 and in charge of climate solutions since 2018.

Previous to that, Dahlberg worked for the Scania Group, where he had a successful 30-year career, concluding with his position as director of buses and coaches.

Dahlberg holds a master's of science degree in engineering from Lund University in Sweden.

"I am looking forward to, together with all employees at Hexpol, creating value for customers, shareholders and other stakeholders," Dahlberg said. "I am grateful for the trust shown by the Board of Directors and humble before the task to continue the successful journey led by my predecessor."

Brunstam, who helped Hexpol become a top compounder, died unexpectedly on Sept. 1.

"It is with great shock and grief that we have received this sad notification," Goransson said at the time.

Brunstam joined Hexpol as CEO and president in 2008 and took over as chairman of the board in 2017, with Mikael Fryklund, formerly of Trelleborg, taking over the CEO position.

In November 2020, after the departure of Fryklund, Brunstam returned to his former leadership position, both as CEO and president of Hexpol.

Brunstam is credited with developing Hexpol into "a world-leading player in the market of polymer compounds."

"Georg will be deeply missed within Hexpol, both on a personal and on a professional level," Goransson said. "Georg has created a strong organization with many highly skilled and qualified managers."

Deputy CEO and Chief Financial Officer Peter Rosen will continue to serve as acting CEO and president until Dahlberg takes the position by mid-2024.
