Munich — KraussMaffei Group GmbH says its GX series of presses stands out for its excellent plasticizing capacity.
Its new 1,300-ton press produces premium-quality reusable crates at low unit costs. So KraussMaffei has upped the clamping force range of its GX series of injection molding machines to 1,300 tons to meet the needs of the packaging and automotive industries as well as manufacturers molding technical components.
The aptly named GX 1300 is particularly suitable for the growing logistics and packaging market, according to a news release that points out benefits of the new larger size. Buckets and crates can be produced in a double cavity on one machine that still has a compact design thanks to two-platen technology that saves installation space.
The machine also features KraussMaffei's HPS barrier screws, which the company says provides an advantage for applications requiring a high material throughput with a short cycle time.
"The melt is conducted forward through two channels, and the dyes are distributed with outstanding evenness," the release says. "The outcome is top-notch homogenization of the melt, which in turn allows for streak-free surfaces. This is particularly important for branded products such as beverage crates."
In addition, the machine can produce reusable crates meant to survive use for several years for the closed transport and storage of goods, such as food, with a sturdier wall thicknesses and more stable form compared to disposable crates.
The GX series has a speed option that the company says provides extremely fast clamping movements and reduces the cycle time for large opening strokes. Together, with the in-mold labeling process, individualized bucket decorations also can be integrated.
The machine also can be equipped with an adaptive process control, which the company says maintains consistency and quality in the component weight, even if recycled material is used.
