Duluth, Ga.-based LS Mtron Injection Molding Machine USA has expanded its line of vertical presses with 10 new models that have more options for advanced processes.
The LSG-V product line (or WIZ-VR II outside North America) now includes 13 smart hybrid machines in sizes ranging from 35-660 tons with options for vertical or horizontal injection, as well as rotary table, shuttle or single-station designs.
"It is a big expansion of the product lineup and makes a complete lineup, larger lineup than most competitors," Peter Gardner, president of LS Mtron Injection Molding Machine USA, said in an email.
LS Mtron IMM is a division of LS Corp., which spun off from founding South Korean tech giant LG Corp.
The machine builder's LSG-V series is suitable for applications with insert molding, while the large-tonnage machines like the 660-ton models can handle big automotive molds and battery-related products, Gardner added.
LS Mtron IMM USA will exhibit at the IMD Expo in Novi, Mich., Sept. 20-21 at Booth 1004.
The LSG-V series was designed to reduce overall cycle time by enabling operators to simultaneously perform product takeout and insertion processes during injection. The ejection and then insertion can take place at the operator station while the machine is molding at the clamping station.
The machines also achieve precise molding using servo motors and drivers, which minimizes product defects during production, and they offer a wide range of injection specifications, such as speed and pressure, to meet customer needs. Other features include a servo-pump system to reduce power consumption, a rotation motor to increase control and reduce noise, and optimized hydraulic oil tanks and lines.
The LSG-V line reduces operating flow by about 45 percent and cooling water consumption by approximately 30 percent, which then lowers operating and maintenance costs and improves sustainability.
The machines are constructed with a four-post tie-bar structure for durability and stability. Operators also gain capacity with support for up to four injection fixtures. In addition, the slide-type guide bar design minimizes transfer resistance and improves precision.
LS Mtron previously offered a limited LSG-V range of three models ranging between 100-350 tons and only vertical rotary, Gardner said.
"With the addition of the newly expanded LSG-V series, we can now provide customers with a wider array of sizes and features, all of which is designed to meet and exceed their expectations," he added.
LS Mtron IMM builds up to 3,000 machines per year for LS-related companies and other molders around the world.
In addition to its U.S. headquarters near Atlanta, LS Mtron IMM has a technical center in Wood Dale, Ill., a machine testing and technical center in Brownsville, Texas, and a parts and service center in San Diego.
LS IMM offers its new molding machines to customers in North America in just 100 days from casting to cargo. Company officials said the combined strength of the LG/LS family of companies makes the machine builder more resilient to global supply chain challenges.
