Resin distributor M. Holland Co. has restructured its resale business to better handle future growth.
In a Dec. 16 phone interview, Executive Vice President Dwight Morgan said that the firm's resale business has been growing for several reasons, including the addition of large amounts of new polyethylene resin capacity in North America in recent years.
"Supply is definitely not a problem right now," he said. "We can provide our strategic suppliers with a reliable channel to the market."
The resale business of Northbrook, Ill.-based M. Holland mainly includes sales of nonbranded grades of PE and polypropylene. It also includes wide-spec and off-spec grades of PE and PP.
M. Holland's resale customers cover a wide range of industries, including flexible packaging, Morgan added. Its biggest export markets are Latin America and Europe.
"We're growing our reach to take advantage of global opportunities," Morgan said.
Four current M. Holland executives now have new roles in the resale business, officials said in a recent news release. Dave Franco, previously vice president of global sourcing for resale, will become vice president of that business. In this role, officials said that Franco will lead the entire resale team and oversee the profitability and growth of the business.
Darren D'Olivo has been promoted to director of resale sourcing. He previously had been polyethylene product manager. Frank LaRocque has been promoted from product and market manager of film and flexible packaging to director of resale sales. Both D'Olivo and LaRocque will report directly to Franco.
Steve Armstrong, previously vice president of global sales for resale, has accepted the new position of vice president of international trading. Armstrong will focus on aligning international trading efforts with the company's global business strategy and will report directly to International Business unit Vice President Eugenio Calderón, who joined M. Holland in September to lead its global expansion.
In a news release, Commercial Executive Vice President Marc Fern said that the resale promotions "are designed to lay the groundwork for the continued success of the resale and international business units." He added that M. Holland's resale team "brings business strength, extensive knowledge and experience, and leadership capabilities to these positions."
