Magic MP SpA (S13089) will showcase its next-generation model of all-electric extrusion blow molding machines at NPE 2024.
The ME T14-600-D has a clamp force of 15.4 U.S. tons for producing large and thick-walled parts, a 600-millimeter carriage stroke, and operates with a 2-by-230-mm head.
The machine also has a new configuration specific for the North American market that makes it more compact and flexible, according to Pietro Spiga, North America sales and marketing manager.
With a double station design, the machine incorporates unique features such as automatic internal deflashing, which reduces manual labor, and a pick-and-place bottle standing system, which company officials said improves handling and reduces risk of damage for an efficient production process.
The long carriage stroke offers greater design freedom for intricate shapes, Spiga said via email.
"The Model ME T14-600-D expands our product line, offering customers a broader range of capabilities," Spiga said. "It doesn't directly replace any existing models but provides a more powerful option for specific applications."
The machine is well suited for many markets, Spiga added, pointing to automotive, medical, industrial components, packaging and consumer goods "where aesthetics and functionality are important."
For downstream systems, the machine integrates with baggers, palletizers, scale weights, and Magic Robotics systems for quality control, leak tests, spin trimming and vision inspection.
Additional flexible features include a scrap conveyor, remote connectivity for service support, and the ability to accommodate heads with values of 2 by 270 mm, 3 by 180 mm, 4 by 130 mm, 5 by 105 mm, or 6 by 85 mm.
Compared with the previous generation of Magic machines, Spiga said the Model ME T14-600-D offers several enhancements that led to a more efficient clamping force to produce larger and more complex parts and a longer carriage stroke to produce wider and taller containers in addition to improved energy efficiency and reduced cycle times.
"This machine will help customers by increasing production capacity and efficiency, reducing operating costs, expanding their product offerings to new markets and meeting increasing demand for high-quality, complex plastic products," Spiga said.
Founded in 1959, Magic developed its first all-electric blow molding machine in 1997. The company has been at the forefront of all-electric technology with a focus on reducing energy consumption and decreasing maintenance costs.
In October 2023, owner and General Manager Ferruccio Giacobbe received the Lifetime Achievement Award during the Society of Plastics Engineers' 38th Annual Blow Molding Conference. He has been a key figure in developing and commercializing all-electric blow molding machines.
Magic completely phased out hydraulic machines 10 years ago.
