M.R. Mold & Engineering Corp., which makes injection molds for liquid silicone rubber and thermoplastics molding, is moving to a larger building in its hometown of Brea, Calif.
Marketing Director Geri Anderson said company officials hope to make the move by the end of the year. M.R. will be moving from its 17,500-square-foot building to a 22,353-square-foot building about 15 minutes away, she said.
The mold maker is moving to get more space and also because the complex it is in has been sold and the buildings will be demolished to put up a three-unit storage facility, Anderson said.
Rick Finnie, president and owner of M.R. Mold, said the company expects to spend close to half a million dollars on the move.
"We needed the space and the infrastructure we didn't have to make the advancements needed to M.R. Mold," Finnie said.
M.R. Mold will celebrate its 35th anniversary in 2020. Finnie said the company is planning an open house next spring.
Finnie was named this year's Mold Builder of the Year by the American Mold Builders Association. M.R. Mold employs more than 30.
