MTD Micro Molding is a small company with a big personality. The precision micromolder in Charlton, Mass., celebrates retirements by inviting the employee's entire family — "whether it is 10 family members or 40," it said — to a special dinner and offering a free vacation for two people to any destination, covered by the company.
Employee appreciation days are complete with profit-sharing announcements, New England lobster bakes, lawn games and more. Company outings and field trips include baseball games, golf tournaments, barbecues, on-site yoga and ice cream trucks. Business shuts down in the summer for one week with paid time off; employees do not need to use their own vacation days.
MTD also has its own currency called MTD Bucks, where employees can purchase merchandise through an online store, such as T-shirts, backpacks, jackets and hats. Everyone receives 50 MTD Bucks a year, and new employees are given 100 MTD Bucks.
The company hosted its first Dennis Tully Memorial Golf Tournament, in honor of MTD's late president, in September 2022 and raised more than $10,000 for a local charity.
"Being a global leader in a medical micromolding industry, MTD focuses on investing in innovation and utilizing unique expertise to manufacture their customer's most critical components," MTD said. "Employees come to work ready to embrace new challenges as a team and look forward to company events where they can play as a team, too."
