Orlando, Fla. — Plasdan USA has officially formed to sell and support products from European parent company Plasdan for multishot injection molding systems in North America.
Established in 1989 by Portuguese and German founders in Denmark, Plasdan's add-on injection units enable multimaterial and multicolor applications without needing two-shot injection molding machines.
Plasdan introduced the world's first all-electric, add-on injection unit in 1999 and then was the first company in the world to launch a complete line of multi-injection molding systems, according to Paulo Silva, president of Plasdan Europe.
The equipment transforms standard presses into multimaterial production systems.
Plasdan has been exporting products to North America for more than 20 years and has staff at facilities in Cedar Point, N.C., and Georgetown, Ontario. Now they work for Plasdan USA, handling service, support, inventory and technical development.
"Today we have some of the most innovative products in the plastics industry. This is our journey," Silva said during a press conference at NPE2024. "We're focused very much on sustainability and reducing costs, space and energy."
Plasdan offers the most extensive range of equipment from micromolding to large shots, said Evan Goodwin, Plasdan USA's director of sales and technology.
"Globally, insiders know Plasdan is the benchmark for add-on injection systems. I know that because I competed with Plasdan for 10 years. I'm very happy to be part of it," Goodwin said. "My goal at Plasdan USA is to spread that insider knowledge to American molders."
As the market evolves, Goodwin said, "My focus will always be to identify emerging trends and leveraging our technologies to meet complex manufacturing needs."
