Japanese chemical trading firm Nagase Holdings America will acquire Wisconsin-based materials specialist Interfacial Consultants LLC.
Nagase Group hopes the deal will increase research and development in high-performance thermoplastics, specialty materials and engineered substrates, according to a Feb. 5 news release.
"We couldn't be more excited to combine efforts with the team at Interfacial," said Bradley Hilborn, vice president of strategy and planning at Nagase in the release. "Interfacial has the ability to rapidly develop products and processes to manufacture at scale. This acquisition will allow Nagase to utilize those capabilities, enabling us to deliver rapid, innovative solutions to our customers across a variety of markets."
Nagase Group aims to address customer needs while developing innovative new products and bringing them to market.
Interfacial founder, board member and executive adviser Jeffrey Cernohous agreed the deal would help the company's global commercialization of products in the release.
Nagase Group owns more than 100 companies around the world focused in manufacturing and distributing resins, polymers, plastic products, electronic materials and food service and pharmaceutical materials.
Interfacial Solutions was formed in 2003 by Cernohous. In 2014, it was acquired by 3D printer Stratasys and was formed into Interfacial Consultants.
