A total of 28 new jobs are being created at a new thermoforming plant in South Carolina.
Palmetto Plastics Innovations will establish new site in a 30,000-square-foot building in Hardeeville, according to the South Carolina Department of Commerce.
"We are proud about establishing our new operations in Jasper County, a move that reflects our commitment to innovation and growth in the plastic extrusion industry," Palmetto Plastics Chairman Mark Gaeta said in a statement.
"This investment in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility not only underscores our dedication to providing essential components for critical infrastructure but also demonstrates our commitment to the local community," he said.
Palmetto Plastics makes products called fill and drift eliminators used in cooling towers.
"The company's products are vital plastic components for systems used in power plants, manufacturing facilities, universities and hospitals," a news release announcing the project states.
Production is expected to start in June, and the company currently is hiring to fill positions.
The project qualified for job development credits through the South Carolina Coordinating Council for Economic Development, which also awarded a $100,000 grant for site preparation and building construction.
"We are eager to contribute to the economic development of the area," Gaeta said.
