Materials supplier Nova Chemicals has made some personnel moves in the areas of finance, sustainability and supply chain.
In a news release, officials with Nova in Calgary described the moves as "a strategic restructuring" of its executive leadership team.
"These executive changes will offer greater focus and distinction between the work we are doing to run our day-to-day operations safely and reliably, providing the exceptional customer experience we are known for, while also growing our business and reshaping plastics for a better, more sustainable world," President and CEO Roger Kearns said.
"We have bold ambitions, and I am confident that with the right structure in place, we will achieve our vision of being the leading sustainable polyethylene producer in North America," he added.
In moves announced Oct. 2:
• Eric Brenner was named chief financial officer. He had served as Nova's acting CFO since May 2022. Brenner joined Nova in 2017 as director of financial planning and reporting. Prior to joining Nova, he worked in a variety of financial roles at Komatsu Mining Corp. and Deloitte & Touche.
• Rocky Vermani will take on new responsibilities as senior vice president of innovation and sustainability. He's been with Nova for almost 30 years, most recently in the role of senior vice president of supply chain, procurement and innovation.
Officials said that Vermani has earned a strong reputation both inside the company and with external partners across the value chain. They added that in his new role, Vermani will build on these relationships as the company furthers its 2030 sustainability initiatives.
• Robert Vislosky is Nova's new chief officer of supply chain and procurement. In that role, he'll lead the firm's efforts in purchasing, logistics and planning. Vislosky has more than 20 years of experience leading procurement teams across various industries and brings deep expertise in supply chain management and global sourcing. He previously worked for Nova for seven years before departing in 2003.
In March, Nova announced its 2030 Strategy. That plan is a technical solutions-driven roadmap that will support the company in its ambitions to drive the plastics circular economy and solidify the market for products with recycled materials. Officials said Nova also plans to be at the forefront of industry decarbonization and become a Top 30 company in Canada.
Nova is one of North America's largest PE resin makers. The firm employs almost 2,500 worldwide and is wholly owned by Mubadala Investment Co. of Abu Dhabi.
