Since Novolex Holdings Inc. first began its diversity, equity and inclusion work in 2021, the food packaging maker sought to foster "a workplace that represents the communities in which we operate, where there are equitable opportunities to learn and grow, and where all feel included regardless of identity or background."
Its strategy is structured around the pillars of leadership commitment and accountability, recruitment, growth and development, inclusive culture, and supplier diversity.
"With a steadfast focus on these pillars, we have diligently crafted and executed facility-level programs aimed at nurturing an inclusive culture, delivering impactful training modules and spearheading organizationwide initiatives, all of which underscore our commitment to championing diversity, ensuring equity and nurturing inclusion across our organization," said Katie Hendrix, Novolex's senior director of employee experience.
The Hartsville, S.C.-based company established its DE&I Council in 2023, and the company has launched its first three inclusion panels, with events in June to recognize Pride Month, a DE&I update in August and a session in November focusing on the experiences of veterans at Novolex.
In the second half of the year, the company launched its DE&I Champions program of employees who volunteered to undergo extra training and organize DE&I events within their local facilities.
