Adell Corp. founder and CEO Arthur Dellheim died at age 97 on Sept. 27.
Dellheim was born in Ludwigshafen, Germany in 1927. He immigrated to the U.S. with his parents in 1938. Dellheim served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947.
After leaving the Army, Dellheim attended the University of Maryland, where he earned a degree in chemical engineering.
Dellheim's plastics career began with National Plastics of Baltimore before he and wife Isadora founded Adell Plastics there in 1957.
The Baltimore-based compounder later added two locations: Adell Polymers in Peterburg, W, Va., and Adell Compounding in Denham Springs, La.
Today, Adell continues to offer toll compounding and a proprietary line of compounds based on polypropylene, nylon, high density polyethylene, high-impact polystyrene and thermoplastic olefin compounds to automotive and industrial markets.
Dellheim's son Michael became Adell's president in 2022 and will continue to lead the company, officials said.
Arthur and Isadora were married in 1951. The couple had three children.
In an obituary, officials with Adell said Dellheim and his wife Isadora "will be greatly missed by the entire Adell family." Isadora Dellheim died on Aug. 5.
