One man is missing presumed dead following a fire at systems house Leeson Polyurethanes Ltd. in Leamigton Spa, England, in late August. David Boswell was working at the factory Aug. 27 when the fire started at 10.30 a.m., and has not been seen since.
Speaking to local media, a spokesperson for Warwickshire Police said: 'For safety reasons, investigators have been unable to access and search the scene, and hopes of finding David safe and well have faded. Sadly, it is now presumed that David lost his life in the fire.'
The site was handed over to the police to investigate Sept. 6 after Warwickshire Fire and Rescue service had dealt with chemicals and hotspots in the building.
Detective Superintendent Jon Marsden, said that, unfortunately, it is likely to be some time before structural engineers and demolition experts decide it is safe enough for investigation teams to enter.
At the height of the fire, local residents were evacuated. Those further away were advised to close their windows.
"Debris from the fire has fallen within a large radius of the incident," said a Warwickshire police statement. "Members of the public should not attempt to clean this up themselves."
Leeson Polyurethanes said it was providing full assistance and cooperation to the emergency services, which are still actively managing the situation.
