France-based OPmobility, formerly Plastic Omnium, is investing $3 million to expand its Spring Hill, Tenn., plant to support customers with electric vehicle production lines.
The expansion is expected to create 186 new jobs, according to a June 24 news release from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development.
The company has operated in Tennessee since 2015 with locations in Chattanooga, Smyrna, Spring Hill and Hendersonville. It has 568 employees in the state.
"OPmobility is excited by the new challenges given by the overall mobility transformation in the automotive industry," Xavier Maury, U.S. operations director for OPmobility, said in the release. "We are proud to pursue our engagement and industrial excellence in Tennessee with one of the top OEM in vehicle electrification."
OPmobility did not respond to multiple requests for comment by Plastics News.
OPmobility, which changed its name from Plastic Omnium in March, has 40,300 employees at 152 plants and 40 research and development centers in 28 countries. It specializes in exterior systems, customized modules, lighting systems, energy storage systems, and battery and hydrogen electrification solutions. It had $12.2 billion (11.4 billion euros) in 2023 sales.
