Plastic Packaging Technologies LLC (PPT) recently cut the ribbon on a 145,000-square-foot plant in Kansas City, Kan., that doubles the pouch maker's footprint there.
The plant, located in a 300-acre industrial park, eventually will employ more than 160 people working 24/7, CEO David Staker said in a video of the occasion posted online Nov. 10. Staker noted the rapid growth in flexible packaging, and pouches in particular, in North America and said, "This facility is designed to take advantage of that huge market demand and opportunity."
Daniel Staker, PPT executive vice president, added, "This facility … is one of a kind now in North America in terms of what we're capable of doing. … PPT now is one of, if not the, largest vertically integrated pouch-making companies now in the U.S." He said the company also plans to reorganize its other facility in Kansas City and add new equipment there.
PPT also has a plant in Columbus, Ohio.
The company makes packaging for food, pet food, health care and specialty consumer markets. Its products include film roll stock and its line of Thrive sustainable packaging.
