Flexible packaging converter Pak Solutions LLC of Lancaster, N.H., recently completed a $7 million expansion.
The packaging company invested in new converting and printing equipment, including a new Koenig & Bauer EVO XD eight-color press, with new laminators, slitter and converting line, according to a Feb. 25 news release.
Pak manufactures a range of film products including security bags, packaging supplies, medical bags for patients, pharmaceutical, forensic evidence and printed roll stock among many others.
The aim of the expansion is to create a one-stop solution for their customers and to further delving into new industries, including the food and beverage market with a call out for new customers, the company said.
With the new expansion, it now has high quality printing in up to 175 line screen colors, 1,640 feet-per-minute web speed, a larger width and print area, automatic impressions and registration in color monitoring and new operator touch screens.
Pak Solutions President Kevin Powers in the release said the investment "provides Pak Solutions with state-of-the-art custom printing and converting solutions, with efficient high-speed, flexible production, quality and expanded capability. This allows us to bring our partnership with our clients the latest technology and the gold standard in print and production capability."
Pak has on-site design services, partners with CSW Inc.'s, another packager, premedia services and can take on a customer's job from start to finish.
Operations President Patrick Judge said in the release: "This kind of service made Pak Solutions a leader in tamper evident and other packaging. Now we're ready to show more clients and industries our ability with these expanded capabilities."
The company was purchased by a small group in 2017 and had 18 employees at the time. It has since invested significantly into printing and converting in addition to its flexible packaging roots. Pak now has 55 employees.
