Philadelphia — Penn Color Inc. has completed construction of an addition for its liquid dispersions business in Hatfield, Pa.
The 40,000-square-foot expansion will make liquid products sold into coatings and dispersions, CEO Kevin Putman said March 4 at Antec 2025 in Philadelphia.
Putman added Hatfield-based Penn Color is adding equipment and increasing capacity at several other locations because of strong demand. These expansions have included new extrusion lines and drying equipment.
In early 2025, Penn Color's core markets of building and construction and consumer packaging are doing well, Putman said. He added the firm has seen demand growth in health care, electric vehicles and appliances, which he described as new markets for Penn Color.
"There's been a lot of change in the world and plastics can help the world be more sustainable," Putman said while opening the conference. "Plastics can create better living standards and push the boundaries of what's possible."
In 2023, Penn Color added production in Thailand and installed a development and design lab in Singapore. The firm expects to add a total of 50 jobs during 2025.
Penn Color is one of North America's 30 largest makers of compounds and concentrates. The firm's products include a wide range of color and additive concentrates, as well as pigment dispersions for inks and coatings.
