Perfect Pallets buys tooling, equipment from PDQ Plastics

Indianapolis-based Perfect Pallets Inc., a supplier of plastic returnable pallets, has purchased the Super D pallet molds and related equipment from Bayonne, N.J.-based PDQ Plastics Inc.

Terms were not disclosed. Perfect Pallets Chief Operating Officer Amy Haag Lathrop said it was an all-cash deal. Lathrop said the deal was finalized at the end of 2019, and the process of migrating assets started in the first quarter of 2020.

"It took some time to perform some preventative maintenance and test the various molds, but we are now successfully supporting the PDQ brand within our manufacturing platform. Orders are being filled, customers are happy and the PDQ legacy continues to grow," she said.

In an Oct. 1 announcement, Perfect Pallets said PDQ's product is the most durable plastic pallets available.

"The heavy-duty Super D pallet has a reputation as being the most unbreakable plastic pallet of all time and will be well placed inside the Perfect Pallets product lineup," PDQ President Barry Nathans added.

"PDQ and Perfect Pallets have successfully collaborated together on various projects over the years, and it's a natural progression that they should take over the Super D product line," Nathans said.

PDQ was founded by Leo Nathans in 1969 and passed on to Barry Nathans, who is retiring.

Perfect Pallets acquired "numerous molds," including tools for 48-by-40-inch and 48-by-48-inch pallets and nestable pallets for drums, plus plastic extruders and other components used in the PDQ manufacturing process, Lathrop said.

Perfect Pallets has a molding arm, Perfect Manufacturing LLC, and the company also works with custom molders "for certain projects when additional resources are required," Lathrop said.

Acquiring 50 years of product development and success allows us to quickly broaden our service offerings to a growing list of existing and future customers."

Perfect Pallets started by serving the commercial printing industry with reusable plastic pallets, replacing traditional wooden skids.
