Circularix LLC, which is nearing the opening of a PET recycling plant in Florida, now plans to also double the capacity of a company plant already operating in Pennsylvania.
The Los Angeles-based maker of food-grade recycled PET said an Ocala, Fla., plant is scheduled to begin operations by the end of this fiscal quarter, calling the move "a significant milestone in the company's expansion plans.
Circularix, meanwhile, said Jan. 29 the company's Hatfield, Pa., plant that's been running since 2023 will expand later this year.
"The completion of our Ocala facility represents a crucial step in our commitment to meeting the growing demand for high-quality recycled materials. This expansion aligns with our goal of helping companies achieve their sustainability objectives. We also plan to double capacity at our Pennsylvania facility later this year, bringing our total production to 165 million pounds, tripling our current output," said Jason Farahnik, co-founder and executive vice president, in a statement.
The Pennsylvania site currently has an annual capacity of 55 million pounds. That will increase to 110 million pounds once expansion there takes place. The Ocala location also has a 55 million pound capacity.
Circularix also previously has announced plans to expand throughout the country with similar plants.
"The new facility is part of Circularix's broader strategy to establish a network of recycling facilities across the United States. Future locations are planned for Texas and West Coast states, further solidifying Circularix's position as a key player in the domestic rPET market," the company said.
