A new prescription drug packaging maker is expanding into South Carolina in a move expected to create 33 jobs.
Pharmacy-Lite Packaging said in a news release from the South Carolina Department of Commerce that the new $2.9 million operation in Winnsboro, in the center of the state, to make its line of plastic vials, bottles and caps.
Pharmacy-Lite is a division of Pacific Management Holdings LLC of Elyria, Ohio, and sells its products to independent pharmacies. The company positions its business as having a streamlined approach allowing pharmacies to stock fewer packaging sizes.
Along with its existing manufacturing site in Elyria, the company also has a network of six warehouses serving the United States, according to the company's website.
"The company's innovative packaging features fewer barcodes and offers child-resistant, reversible and easy-open twist caps for dry and liquid vials," according to an announcement about the new location.
The company expects to begin hiring in the spring at the new location.
"Pharmacy-Lite is happy to have found both a community and facility that we believe will support our continued growth in the production and nationwide distribution of prescription packaging products. Our team first visited Winnsboro in July and found the people to be friendly, welcoming and outgoing," said Pharmacy-Lite President V. Jack Brennan in a statement.
