Sheet and semifinished product distributor Piedmont Plastics Inc. of Charlotte, N.C., has acquired Plastics Plus Ltd., which will become Piedmont's sixth branch location in Canada and its 53rd in North America.
Piedmont said it will relocate workers from Plastics Plus, a distributor and custom fabricator in Edmonton, Alberta, to another Edmonton-area location.
"Expanding our presence in Western Canada will allow us to strategically grow our footprint in the region," Piedmont Plastics President Tyler Booth said in a June 30 news release. The acquisition closed June 24.
"Piedmont Plastics could not be a better fit and new home for the Plastics Plus team," Plastics Plus President Doug Popowich said in the release. The company launched in 2000.
Piedmont, founded more than 50 years ago, distributes film, acrylic sheet, adhesive-backed vinyl, rods and flexible tubing. It serves transportation, marine and optical display markets, among others.
In 2020, Piedmont acquired and absorbed distributor Empire Plastics Inc. of Sioux Falls, S.D.
