The largest distributor of high density polyethylene pipe in North America, Louisville, Ky.-based Isco Industries Inc., will buy Irondale, Ala.-based M.T. Deason Co. Inc. to increase its service capacity in the natural gas distribution market.
Deason has focused its products and services — pipes, fittings, fusion equipment and valves — on the natural gas industry since 1982 as well as the water, wastewater and industrial markets.
Isco, founded in 1962, serves those markets in addition to the municipal, marine, power, nuclear, geothermal and environmental markets by stocking and selling a range of HDPE pipe and related materials.
Durable and flexible, HDPE pipes form a "monolithic" system that is leak-proof when fused together, according to Isco.
Isco CEO Jimmy Kirchdorfer said in a news release that he has known the acquired business's CEO, Mike Deason, for more than 25 years and admired his "customer-centric business."
"He has been a pioneer in electrofusion and gas pipe fittings, and the company has an excellent reputation for providing quality products," Kirchdorfer said. "I'm proud that he chose to join forces with Isco to continue on their successful path."
Terms of the deal, expected to close Jan. 2, were not disclosed.
Deason and its three locations — the headquarters and service centers in Cedar Hill, Texas, and Faifield, N.J. — will become a division of Isco, which has more than 35 sites in North America.
"At M.T. Deason, our customers always come first. It is the same at Isco," Mike Deason said in the release. "This shared vision along with the expertise M.T. Deason offers in gas distribution, and the expertise that Isco offers in their markets creates exciting opportunities for both sets of customers."
In December 2018, wholly owned subsidiary Isco Canada Inc., purchased substantially all assets of A.H. McElroy Sales and Service (Canada) Ltd., which offers PE pipe fusion services and maintains the largest inventory of parts, equipment and rental fleet in that country. The deal formed Isco-A.H. McElroy.
