Tubing maker Plastiflex Group has purchased Smooth-Bor Plastics' VacPro and Armor brands of industrial vacuum, swimming pool and RV hoses.
The acquisition will include all patents and other IP rights, production equipment and related items for production of the hoses, Plastiflex said in a Jan. 27 news release.
The acquisition will not include Smooth-Bor Plastics' line of medical hoses, which will continue to be manufactured by and under the Smooth-Bor Plastics name. Smooth-Bor is based in Laguna Hills, Calif.
"These legacy product lines comprised a very minor part of Smooth-Bor's overall business, as the company has focused on it's high-growth medical division," Tamsen Hughes, a spokesperson for Smooth-Bor said in an emailed statement to Plastics News. "The divestiture will allow Smooth-Bor to focus exclusively on the continued growth of its Medical Division and ongoing development of new medical products."
Mark Monper, vice president of sales for Plastiflex North America said the acquisition will allow the company to "further improve their position in the pool and industrial markets and provide both operational and commercial benefits."
Plastiflex North America, with a sales office in San Diego and manufacturing in Statesville, N.C., and Tijuana, Mexico, is part of Beringen, Belgium-based Plastiflex Group N.V.
