Engineered nylon materials made by Ascend Performance Materials now are available in North America through distribution firm PolySource LLC.
Overland Park, Kan.-based PolySource now offers Ascend's Vydyne, Starflam, HiDura and ReDefyne nylon materials. These materials are designed for use in automotive, electrical and electronic, health care and consumer and industrial applications, officials said in a news release.
"Like us, PolySource is focused on delivering value to their customers by offering both materials and technical expertise," Ascend America senior sales director Kathy Marker said.
Ascend of Houston ranks as the world's largest fully integrated maker of nylon 6/6 resins. In recent years, the firm has broadened its portfolio with long-chain nylons, mechanically recycled nylon 6 and 6/6 and multiple flame-retardant nylons.
"We find tremendous value in the strategic fit between Ascend and PolySource," PolySource Chief Development Officer Damien Couch said.
PolySource offers resins, compounds and concentrates from more than 25 suppliers. The firm topped Plastics News' Best Places to Work list in 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2023.
It will be at Booth S26193 at NPE2024.
Ascend has annual sales of more than $3 billion and is a unit of New York-based investment firm SK Capital Partners. At the Fakuma trade show in late 2023, Ascend officials said the firm is ahead of its own sustainability goals. Ascend now aims to have its carbon footprint reduced by 90 percent vs. 2018 levels by 2030. The firm has spent more than $200 million on sustainability efforts in recent years.
Ascend will have a presence at NPE2024 in Room W233.
