Deerfield, Ill.-based packaging company Pregis LLC has acquired So.Pr.Ad srl, a global provider of temporary protective films.
The acquisition of Milan-based Soprad marks the first purchase under Pregis' new private equity owner Warburg Pincus, according to a March 5 release.
Financial terms of the sale were not disclosed.
Soprad supplies performance-oriented adhesive protective films for a variety of surfaces, President and CEO Kevin Baudhuin said in the release.
"Its robust European customer base provides an ideal foundation from which to expand the availability of our existing temporary adhesive film products," he said. "The acquisition strengthens Pregis' position as a leading global producer of surface protection films."
Soprad will now have their products marketed under Pregis' PolyMask brand with aims of offering them to a more global market and will expand its range of products to include solvent-rubber and solvent-acrylic based solutions.
Pregis recently opened a few facilities in Europe aimed at broadening their global marketplace: a customer service and paper center in the United Kingdom, and a film and foam center in the Netherlands.
Pregis was ranked No. 12 on a recent Plastics News ranking with estimated Film & Sheet sales of $600 million in North America.
