Primex Plastics Corp. will create almost 30 new jobs through a $5.4 million expansion project in Jasper, Tenn.
The expansion will include additional manufacturing space and a new research and development center, officials with Primex in Richmond, Ind., said in a news release. The project is expected to create 28 new jobs.
In Jasper, Primex develops and makes custom color concentrates for commercial, medical or food-grade applications. The project will employ almost 130 during construction.
"We have a tremendous group of employees and a wonderful support structure with our local, regional and state governments," Doug Borgsdorf, business unit director, said. "This relationship will allow us to hire, train and continue to build our great team."
He added that the expansion "will also allow us to further develop innovative products for our customers and will provide us a state-of-the-art research center where we can work to develop sustainable plastic solutions."
Primex is also a major sheet extruder. The firm was 18th in Plastics News' most recent ranking of North American film and sheet makers, with estimated 2021 sales of $600 million.
