Work hard, play hard
Thanks to MTD's Fun Committee, "team spirit is alive" with golf, yoga, curling and more to help celebrate wins and build lasting bonds. Team-bonding activities throughout the year include a companywide annual curling competition in February, green pancakes for St. Patrick's Day breakfast in March, and potluck and pumpkin carving at the Jack-o-Lantern Jubilee in October.
Retiring team members are celebrated with an off-site party attended by co-workers and the retiree's entire family — "whether it's 10 family members or 40" — and a free vacation for two people to any destination.
MTD rewards its employees for their years of service with gift cards and additional paid time off. Birthday celebrations incorporate a signed birthday card and gift.
Employee of the Quarter is voted on by co-workers and announced at a companywide meeting. Winners receive a personalized gift basket and $100 gift card, along with a photo taken and shared on company social media.
Every summer, the company shuts down for one week and employees do not need to use their own paid time off during this period. It's designed to "guarantee an extended summer break for all employees with minimal impact to manufacturing schedules."
