Naples, Fla. — MMI Engineered Solutions Inc., a Saline, Mich.-based injection molder, blow molder and toolmaker, is Plastics News' 2021 Processor of the Year.
The winner was named March 23 at the Plastics News Executive Forum in Naples.
Coming out of the pandemic, and with automotive sector rocked by supply chain issues and chip shortages, MMI managed to have the best year in the company's history.
"2021 was the most volatile, chaotic, stressful year that we've ever been through in my 30 years in the industry. It was also the most successful year," owner, President and CEO Doug Callahan said in a recent interview at the company headquarters.
MMI will be profiled in the March 28 issue of Plastics News.
The Processor of the Year competition is open to all companies engaged in North American plastics processing for at least the past five years. MMI was a finalist for the Processor of the Year trophy in 2019 and 2020.
In addition to Processor of the Year, Plastics News named four PN Excellence Award winners.
Comar LLC, based in Voorhees, N.J., received the PN Excellence Award for Employee Relations.
Proto Labs Inc., based in Maple Plain, Minn., won the PN Excellence Award for Technological Innovation.
PTI Engineered Plastics of Macomb, Mich., received the PN Excellence Award for Industry/Public Service.
Teel Plastics LLC of Baraboo, Wis., received the PN Excellence Award for Customer Relations.
