ACE Green Recycling Inc. wants to build a new battery recycling facility in Texas for both lead-acid and lithium-ion batteries that would produce more than 15 million pounds of plastics each year.
The company, which did not reveal an exact location in a May 10 announcement, said a 400,000-square-foot facility is expected to begin operation during the third quarter of 2023.
"When operating at full capacity, ACE expects the facility to process and recycle up to 100,000 metric ton of used lead-acid batteries and 20,000 metric ton of used lithium-ion batteries annually by 2025," the company said in a statement.
The company, which calls itself a start-up, said it would use its own funding as well as outside investors "to set up the envisioned Texas battery recycling park."
