Jonathan Quinn is joining film supplier Pregis LLC in the newly created role of director of market development and sustainable flexible packaging.
Quinn, an active member of industry organizations and a frequent conference speaker, had been with Nova Chemicals for the previous five years, most recently as e-commerce packaging and specialty shrink market manager.
In a June 23 phone interview, Quinn said he's joining Deerfield, Ill.-based Pregis to be part of the firm's growth.
"Pregis is entering new markets, and I'll be in a true leadership position," he added. "I want to push Pregis into the forefront of the conversation around packaging and sustainability."
Quinn interned at Pregis while in college in 2007. Pregis also was a Nova customer in his time there.
"I'm most proud of giving Nova a bigger voice and creating visibility through our work and collaborations with other people," he said. Nova is a supplier of polyethylene resin and specialty plastics based in Calgary, Alberta.
Quinn is founder and chairman of the Flexible Packaging Association's Emerging Leadership Council. He was named Young Leader of the Year by the Canadian Plastics Industry Association in 2019 and was a Plastics News Rising Star in 2018.
Flexible packaging is a familiar home for Quinn. His father John was a top executive at two flexible packaging firms. Quinn's grandfather also worked as a press operator, and he has a brother who works in the industry as well.
With estimated film and sheet sales of $605 million, Pregis ranks 12th among North American film and sheet producers by Plastics News. Earlier this year, Pregis added plastic bag production at two sites in Wisconsin. The firm employs more than 2,200 at more than 24 North American sites, as well as at production sites in Europe.
