Italy-based polymer group and nylon producer RadiciGroup is strengthening its sustainability efforts with the acquisition of Zeta Polimeri srl, an Italian material recovery company.
Founded in 1992, Zeta Polimeri recovers synthetic fiber and thermoplastics at its 8,000-square-meter facility in in Buronzo, in northwestern Italy.
Radici announced the acquisition during the Hanover, Germany-based Domotex 2020 event, where it also launched Renycle, a range of yarns produced from recycled nylons.
The newly launched technology enables the group to produce 100 percent recyclable yarns for the segments of textile flooring, rugs and fitted carpet, as well as clothing.
Both the acquisition and the launch fall within the Italian group’s sustainability strategy, Radici said.
In addition, Angelo Radici, President of RadiciGroup said the company was working on “a puzzle now close to completion,” but did not elaborate further.
“Our group has always made effort and investments to improve the sustainability of its products and processes. We have long experience in the recovery and reuse of the industrial scrap from our processes to give them a second life as secondary raw materials in the polymer industry,” he added.
