International circular economy specialist Reconomy is continuing to make global acquisitions, buying Lincoln Waste Solutions LLC, a U.S.-based waste and recycling management and consulting firm and its first purchase in the United States.
Headquartered in Windsor, Conn., and founded in 2005, Lincoln has adopted a comprehensive, full-service management approach to handle all types of waste and recycling. It has a strong track record of servicing hundreds of clients across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico, the companies said.
"Joining Reconomy will enhance our customer offering to help companies become more sustainable as the transition to a circular economy quickens," said Lincoln CEO John Ayvas.
The transaction represents an important strategic milestone for Reconomy, providing it with a platform to accelerate growth in North America. Moreover, it marks the third major acquisition of 2024, alongside the five complementary acquisitions completed in 2023. Earlier this year, the company acquired United Kingdom-based Circle Waste and Duisburg, Germany, headquartered Sudamin Rohstoff.
Reconomy services include recycling management and equipment, material handling, shipping and bottle deposit logistics.
The U.S. market has long been of strategic importance, Reconomy CEO Guy Wakeley said. Acquiring Lincoln enables the business to accelerate growth plans in the region and expand its international footprint.
"We are excited to welcome the Lincoln team into the Reconomy family and look forward to working with them to pursue our joint mission of enabling the circular economy."
Reconomy now operates in more than 80 countries with over 4,000 colleagues servicing over 10,000 customers.
