A broker based in South Carolina is adding more space and looking to add more workers amid the intense interest in recycled plastics.
Blackrock Plastics LLC of Charleston is adding another 1,000 square feet of office space with plans to hire five new employees to complement the firm's existing four workers, Director Jim Kevany said April 20.
Blackrock now has 3,000 square feet of space.
"With the market being so tight due to the lack of supply of virgin material, we're still growing, with increased demand for our plastic scrap," Kevany said in a statement. "We've learned to adapt to different market conditions, responding to our increase in demand with our recent office expansion."
Blackrock buys and sells post-industrial plastics.
"With the market the way it is, we're getting more calls coming in from people looking for material. On the supply side finding material has been a little harder," he said in an interview. The new hires will come on board to help find new sources of recycled plastic.
