Netherlands-based The Good Plastic Co. has expanded into North America with a new office in New York City to sell its panels made from 100 percent recycled and 100 percent recyclable plastic.
The Polygood panels are intended to add color to interior design, architecture, furniture and retail displays. Each pattern uses distinct waste sources such as refrigerators, single-use cutlery, household appliances or manufacturing scrap. Good Plastic says the material prevents the emission of more than 3 metric tons of carbon emissions for every tonne produced, when compared with virgin material.
Polygood is produced at Good Plastic's factories in Chernivtsi, Ukraine, and Almere, Netherlands, with a combined capacity of 1,000 tonnes per year. The company's production hub in southern Ukraine turns out its largest panels in high volumes, while smaller panels and research and development take place in the Netherlands.
Plastics recyclers from across Europe supply Good Plastic with both post-consumer and post-industrial plastic.
The expansion into North America will not include a new manufacturing hub in the continent, but starting in April, Polygood material will be available across North America with delivery from U.S.-based stock, the company said in a news release.
The brand has successfully completed more than 750 international projects showcasing solutions for furniture, surfacing and design elements. Its growing roster of more than 400 clients includes Nike, Adidas, IKEA, McDonald's, Karl Lagerfeld, Jimmy Fairly, Coach, LUSH, Hyundai, Soho House, Samsung and BMW.
"As we continue to grow, we are excited to offer businesses, specifiers and consumers in North America access to a truly sustainable and aesthetically pleasing surfacing solution that aligns with their commitment to environmental responsibility," said William Chizhovsky, Good Plastic's founder.
