Oklahoma City — Oklahoma City-based Reel Power Industrial (W7273), a manufacturer of flexible material handling equipment, will introduce a new automatic cut and transfer (ACT) system at NPE2024 for spooling up to 1,000 FPM.
Founded in 2008, Reel Power makes products for reeling, coiling and spooling cable, tubing, wire rope, steel and fiber-optic materials for the military, aerospace, medical, automotive, marine, train, and oil and gas markets.
The new spooling system, called ACT-26, is coming to market at a time when demand for wire, cable and tubing products is growing and manufacturers are looking for ways to improve efficiencies, reduce costs and maximize space in their facilities. In response, Reel Power Industrial officials said the ACT-26 system coils materials quickly and consistently, which cuts production time and increases output.
The ACT-26 system offers the best tension control and precision military winding, according to a news release. Also, the system can accommodate different coil sizes and configurations, making it flexible for production needs.
An ACT-26 system will be showcased at NPE with a Yaskawa HC20DTP collaborative robot to demonstrate automated spool removal. The system offers fast return of investment when replacing manual machines in terms of improved safety and the ability for one operator to run multiple lines, the release said.
The Yaskawa six-axis robot can operate with or near human workers. A pinchless design featuring "power and force limiting" technology monitors force to quickly react to contact.
The ACT-26 systems are equipped with sensors and monitoring devices to ensure quality during the coiling process. Also, data monitoring and analysis capabilities track production metrics, identify areas for improvement and improve process efficiency over time.
"The ACT-26 offers reduced labor costs, increased productivity and minimized material waste contributing to significant cost savings over time," said Don Moreau, Reel Power senior vice president of sales and marketing.
