A report on the use of recycled materials in France shows that companies registered using 389,000 metric tons of recycled plastics in 2018.
The Monitoring Recyclates for Europe (MORE) platform was launched by European Plastic Converters (EuPC) in 2019 and just unveiled its first report on the volume of recycled polymers used by converting companies.
The report is based on the platform's first round of data collection in France. The collected data comes from the packaging, construction, automotive and consumer goods sectors.
MORE was established to monitor and register the industry's progress toward the European Union's target to use 10 million tonnes of recycled plastics in new products by 2025.
France is the first country to officially announce its results, thanks to the efforts of the French national plastics & composites converters association, Fédération de la Plasturgie, and the French plastics converting companies who cooperated by reporting their use of recycled polymers.
Overall, the MORE platform is currently available to plastics converting companies in 14 European countries, and is experiencing a constant growth of members and reported volumes. Data on recycled polymer consumption is collected on a yearly basis and the results are to be published per country and at the European level.
